Today was our first beginners ride and it was very well supported both by newcomers and club members. In total we had 13 riders out on the cycle path to Honeyborough and back completing 9 miles. It was mentioned that some riders would like to have a go at doing some extra miles after the main ride so 9 of us went back out and did a further 12 miles, so a great achievement for all. There were some good group riding skills shown and everyone seemed to cope well with the speed and distance, it was a very gentle pace ensuring that we all stayed together as a group. The odd chain off and puncture occurred but were dealt with by our on hand mechanic, Jeff. At the end of the initial 9 mile ride we returned to the Meads sports centre where it was mentioned that the group would like to join in with the clubs Coffee ride to Broad Haven next week so that is what we will do. Should any beginners wish to come and do a shorter route and not go to Broad Haven then there will be somebody to accompany them. All rides including beginners rides will leave the Meads next week at 9am.
One of the highlights of the ride was Jeff Arnold using his natural charm with ladies by informing one of them that she ‘went up that hill like a rat up a drainpipe’, Just what every girl wants to hear Jeff!
Spread the word everyone and bring any friends along who have a dusty bike in the garage or maybe have bought a new bike.
